Swedish Sandwich Cake - Smorgastarta
Smorgastarta, also known as Swedish Sandwich Cake, is a delightful savory cake made with layers of bread, creamy fillings, and various toppings. Its perfect for special occasions and gatherings, offering a unique twist on traditional sandwiches.
Ingredients:
- 10 slices of bread
- 200g smoked salmon
- 200g cooked shrimp
- 150g cream cheese
- 150g sour cream
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 cucumber, thinly sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
- 3 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
- Fresh dill for garnish
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Sour cream, mayonnaise, and cream cheese should all be mixed together until the mixture is smooth
Add pepper and salt
On each piece of bread, put a small amount of the cream cheese mixture
On half of the bread slices, put smoked salmon, shrimp, cucumber, bell pepper, red onion, and sliced eggs
Put the other half of the bread slices on top to make a sandwich
Spread the rest of the cream cheese mixture over the whole sandwich and smooth it out to make a smooth surface
If you want, you can add more sliced eggs or shrimp and fresh dill as a garnish
Let it sit in the fridge for at least two hours before you serve it so the flavors can blend
Cut it up and serve it cold
