Fig Compote Jam

This Fig Compote Jam is a delightful way to use up an abundance of fresh figs. Its sweet, slightly tangy, and bursting with fig flavor. Enjoy it on your morning toast or as a versatile ingredient in various dishes.

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds fresh figs, washed and stemmed
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 lemon, zest and juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

Cut the figs into quarters and place them in a large saucepan

Add the granulated sugar, water, lemon zest, and lemon juice to the saucepan with the figs

Stir well to combine all the ingredients

Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil

Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the figs are soft and the mixture has thickened to a jam-like consistency

Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract

Allow the fig compote jam to cool slightly before transferring it to clean, sterilized jars

Seal the jars and let them cool completely before storing them in the refrigerator

Use your delicious fig compote jam on toast, yogurt, or as a topping for desserts
